How a Toll Free Number Works

You do not add a new phone line. When your customer calls your toll free number, it rings on your home phone, office phone or cell phone. Most toll free number services cost $5.00 to $25.00 per month plus 5¢ to 10¢ per minute, and they offer no extra services. Ours is $2 per month Plus 6.9¢ per minute.

How I’ve Used My Toll Free Service

I always have it set to voice mail. When a caller calls, they get my outgoing message and they go immediately to voice mail. I immediately get an email notification of their call with their message attached. Then I call them back on my schedule. There are two advantages of doing it this way:

It keeps my costs down. Since I am paying 6.9¢ a minute for using my toll free number, my return call is not using it. If the person leaves a 1-minute message and I call back and talk for an hour, I only pay for the 2 minutes they were calling and leaving their message.
